LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

The Learning & Development Manager will lead the learning, development and talent agenda across Grantley Hall, creating a culture where colleagues are empowered to grow, perform and thrive.

This role is responsible for shaping and delivering the Grantley Academy strategy, ensuring learning initiatives support business objectives, enhance leadership capability, drive service excellence, and create meaningful career development opportunities for all colleagues.

As a key member of the People Team, the Learning & Development Manager will champion continuous learning, support succession planning, and work closely with operational leaders to ensure Grantley Hall remains an employer of choice and a leader in luxury hospitality.

Key Responsibilities
Learning & Development Strategy

  • Partner with the Director of Human Resources to develop and deliver the Learning & Development strategy in line with the Grantley Hall business plan.
  • Lead the ongoing development and implementation of the Grantley Academy learning proposition.
  • Create a culture of continuous learning and professional development across the business.
  • Identify current and future capability requirements to support business growth and operational excellence.

Leadership & Talent Development

  • Design, facilitate and continuously enhance Leadership and Management Development programmes.
  • Develop career pathways that encourage internal progression and support succession planning.
  • Coach and support managers to build leadership capability and improve team performance.
  • Provide individual coaching, development feedback and support to colleagues at all levels.
  • Support talent review processes and contribute to the identification and development of future leaders.

Learning Design & Delivery

  • Design and deliver engaging, innovative and impactful learning solutions using a variety of training methodologies.
  • Facilitate workshops, development programmes and learning events through the Grantley Academy.
  • Work collaboratively with departmental leaders to ensure training initiatives align with Grantley Hall values, service standards and business priorities.
  • Support managers in identifying capability gaps and recommend appropriate development solutions.
  • Ensure learning experiences are engaging, relevant and measurable.

Service Excellence & Brand Standards

  • Act as a champion of the Grantley Hall culture, values and brand standards.
  • Collaborate with operational leaders to embed luxury service excellence throughout all development programmes.
  • Develop learning initiatives that support Leading Quality Assurance (LQA) and Forbes Travel Guide standards.
  • Promote brand storytelling and guest-centric behaviours through all learning interventions.

Onboarding & Apprenticeships

  • Ensure all new colleagues receive an exceptional onboarding experience that reflects the Grantley Hall culture and values.
  • Manage relationships with apprenticeship providers and external learning partners.
  • Drive apprenticeship engagement, participation and successful completion rates.
  • Continuously review and enhance induction and onboarding programme
  • Stakeholder & External Partnerships
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business to identify learning needs and support development priorities.
  • Manage relationships with external suppliers, facilitators, coaches and training providers.
  • Represent Grantley Hall at industry events, networking opportunities and employer branding initiatives.
  • Act as a professional ambassador for Grantley Hall within the hospitality and learning communities.

    Reporting & Evaluation
  • Measure and evaluate the effectiveness and impact of learning initiatives.
  • Analyse feedback, engagement and performance data to continuously improve learning outcomes.
  • Provide regular reporting on learning activity, participation, completion rates and business impact.
  • Manage learning budgets effectively and ensure value for investment.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Learning & Development, Talent Development or Training roles.
  • Experience within a luxury hotel, luxury resort, luxury retail or premium customer service environment.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering leadership and management development programmes.
  • Experience creating and implementing learning strategies that support business objectives.
  • Demonstrable coaching and facilitation experience.
  • Experience working with external training providers and apprenticeship partners.
  • Experience measuring learning effectiveness and reporting on outcomes.
     
    Qualifications 
  • Degree qualified or equivalent experience.
  • CIPD Level 5 or Level 7, CTP, or equivalent professional Learning & Development qualification.
  • Coaching qualification or accreditation (desirable).
  • Insights Discovery or DiSC certification (desirable).
